It’s been a week full of good food, friends and lots of laughter, which is hopefully burning off those calories from the amazing cinnamon rolls and giddy up fries below. Hope everyone has a great weekend and cooks some yummy items!

Jell-O Shots

JelloThis past weekend I attended a bachelorette party and was put in charge of the Jello Shots. I had planned to try out a few variations, but inevitably ran out of vodka and the syringes that were used to “shoot” them. The standard cherry version and Moscow Mule won out, but I had wanted to attempt the Arnold Palmer recipe.

Standard Jello Shot Recipe

  • 1 small box of Jell-O
  • 8 ounces of boiling water
  • 6 ounces Vodka – I used Tito’s
  • 2 ounces water

Add one small box of Jell-O to 8 oz. of boiling water. Once the Jell-O has dissolved, allow the mixture to come to room temperature – I stuck my glass Pyrex pitcher over a bowl of ice to cool it down. At the same time combine the vodka and water in a separate container.

Once the Jell-O mixture is at room temp., add the vodka and water and stir. Then pour into the molds you will be using. I used these syringes that I purchased off of Amazon. They are a much cleaner way to eat these.

Then just stick them in the fridge for a few hours until they have set. The wider the container, the quicker they will setup.

For the Moscow Mule Shots, I used this recipe.

These were the Arnold Palmer shots I would have tried, had I not run out of vodka midway through.

I have been on a reading kick lately and have read some a variety of genres in the last few weeks. If you you’re looking for a new book, read on.

Behind Her Eyes

Product Details

Similar to Gone Girl, this book kept me captivated for the entire 5 days it took me to read it.

“An eerie thriller…Pinborough keeps us guessing about just who’s manipulating whom – until the ending reveals that we’ve been wholly complicit in this terrifying mind game.” ―The New York Times Book Review

The Boston Girl

An unforgettable novel about a young Jewish woman growing up in Boston in the early twentieth century. I related to this book in a multitude of ways and couldn’t put it down. “Every girl must kiss a lot of frogs before she finds her prince.”

Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors. She has a way of drawing you into a story with details and imagery. Warning: do not read in public, you will cry.

“Hannah has written a remarkable tale of duty, love, strength, and hope that is at times poignant and always thoroughly captivating and relevant.” ―Library Journal (starred review)

Hillbilly Elegy

This book brought me back to reality and tells the story of how your birth place can define you or allow you to break the mold. This book has been on every bestseller list lately and for good reason.
